Shida Saam, D.O.’s mission is to provide personalized, high-quality care on an as-needed or preventative basis. We have created a practice that we believe in and choose for our own family members.
Shida Saam, D.O. received her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and completed her residency at the UC Irvine Family Practice program. She is board certified in Family Practice and Geriatrics. Dr. Saam chose to focus on family practice and preventive medicine because she enjoys helping her patients maintain optimum health through both traditional and alternative medicine. She takes a holistic approach to medicine by incorporating integrative therapies, as appropriate to the patient’s individual need.
“It is important to develop a trusting relationship with patients and encourage them to participate in the treatment and decision making process,” says Dr. Saam. “Forming a partnership with my patients enables us to work together to improve their health and well-being.” Dr. Saam is fluent in English, Spanish and Farsi, and has a private practice located next to the future Hoag Hospital Irvine.
Dr. Shida Saam has been in practice since 1997. She believes that optimum health is maintained by both alternative and traditional medicine, thus she specializes in natural hormones (bioidentical hormones), vitamin therapy (which includes evaluation and close observation of the therapy), PMS, geriatrics, and other related diseases. Due to obesity-related problems, she offers weight management which includes evaluation of the patient eating habits, and subtle changes to encourage a change of lifestyle. Furthermore, she understands that optimum health is a combination of taking care of yourself from inside and out.
As a mother of two children, she also relates to the importance of children’s well-being. Her practice offers vaccination for children and annual preventive care. She is affiliated with HOAG Hospital, St. Joseph, Western Medical Hospital in Santa Ana, and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. Most insurances are accepted such as HMO plans, PPO plans, and Medicare.

July 18, 2023, I had a "physical" consultation. Services were great to schedule and even during the initial assessment. However, the services are a bit below average in trying to obtain a REQUEST for an itemized bill statement in order to get the $175 health coverage reimbursement. A numerous of times I called to confirm the itemized bill statement REQUEST, but the office personal had no clue re the matter. Further, I was placed on HOLD and wait time over 5-10 mins.The staff over the phone "I will check in with the case manager" - hmm... nothing after that. Luckily, I gave a 3-Star review and M.D. got to the matter and resolved. Thus, a 4-Star review. Honest review here, good place, but below average re medical records and billing REQUEST fulfillment or over the phone wait times.

Its a blessed for me to find this angle in this wold. It is not easy to find a doctor who considers the patient more than her own benefits and spends time for the patient with all her heart. Most of my family work in medical setting and i seldomly see a doctor sornd that much time for each of her patient. Dr. Sam is not just a doctor, but she is a a real human being who treats her patients like her as she treat her friends and family. She is very knowledgeable with a real long time hands on practice. My mother Esmat Daneshvar and I have been to many primary doctors in the past. Most of them were careless and disorganized. We were extremely disappointed and lost our trust in the primary physicians, until we found Dr. Shida Saam. We have been seeing her in the last few months several times, as my mom has several health problems. She has been always very kind, caring, knowledgeable, and full of possitive energy. She is the best primary care doctor you can find in OC. Her PA and all her staff are wonderful too. We feel just like home when we go to her office. I would recommend Dr. Shida Saam for everyone. I am 31 years old and suffer from wrong hormonal pills (Contraceptive). I used to have 3 different type of hormones every week.My last doctor before her didn't really care. Its to much for me. Since I am hyper sensitive with it. I tried to change different Doctor.I found Doc Saam and she took her time listening to me,looked at the pills and prescribed me with less hormonal pills. So far it's been working so good in my body. I feel so less emotional. I also have my annual check and the results was fast. I was having vitamin d deficiency and recommended me to take one daily. I was also having anxiety and she prescribed me good medication. I just love her. I live in Corona, CA but I'm willing to drive in Irvine. I know she takes care of her patients very well. She definitely different from of all the Primary doctors I had. She is wonderful Since that check up She fixed and improved my day and I'm so much happier❤

Office was clean and their service was quick. Did not have to wait long to see the doctor. They do telehealth as well so you do not need to visit the office to receive your results unless the doctor needs to see you in person to discuss further.

I am suffering from a terminal illness with many complications. I have overall 30 specialists with over 100 medications. I google search the best primary care doctor in Orange County and Dr. Saam had the most 5 stars rating. I need a very strong educated and experience Hoag doctor so I decided to choose her as my new primary care. Last week was my first experience going to Dr. Saam's office. I felt very welcome right from the beginning. The nurse assistant and all staff members were very friendly and pretty. I met Dr. Saam exiting her office because she had to visit a dying patient from covid in the ER. Already I had a good impression of her knowing she is such a caring doctor towards her patient. She went over and introduced herself with a smile and shook my hand. She told me she will take care of me and her Physician Assistant will examine me for that day and order some lab work. She will then see me in a few weeks once she has the results. I told her I am a very severe case and have many problems. That I urgently need all my referral to specialist requests and medication that I need prescribed that day. And if I can just tell her about my medical condition. Dr. Saam without any hesitation took me right into her office, listen to my heart , read all my medical paperwork, and told me its not a problem and she can accommodate all my requests. Dr. Saam also assure me that she or her Physician assistant will take care of all my requests that day. Which they did and even went over my expectations of prescribing extra medicine that I need to treat my condition that no other doctors I have seen did. She is such an amazing doctor. The Physician Assistant was also very young, attractive, extremely knowledgable, and understanding. Dr. Saam and her PA made me felt very comfortable and gave me all the medications I need and all the referrals I urgently requested. I have went to many other primary care doctors, just being disappointed at the end that they were not happy taking care of me since I am a high maintenance patient that require a high level of care that their offices were not able to accommodate. Those doctors even had to go home after seeing me and had a migraine headache. Well not with Dr. Saam and her dedicated team. She, her PA, and all her nurse assistants had a smile throughout their entire time helping me even towards the end. It was like no sweat to them. Dr. Saam truly deserve the 5 stars rating and is the best primary care physician in OC. I highly recommend my friends and family members to her.

I took my daughter to Dr. Saam's office and we were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. Dr. Saam listened gracefully to the symptoms that my daughter was having and helped refer her to another field of expertise. This was the first step we had taken to get some help with Anxiety Issues and other related challenges…..it was nice that Dr. Saam was not judgmental or opinionated, when hearing my daughter only slightly tell a bit of her story and how she had come to decision to get some help. As a single mother trying to wear both hats in parenting, this was helpful that Dr. Saam remained objective through the visit, without knowing the full story. Keep up the great work!
